I believe I’ve always been destined to be a journalist.

I owe my life to Linda Yu. Seeing an Asian face anchoring the Chicago nightly news cemented my career choice at a young age. After earning my BA in Journalism and Psychology from New York University, I moved to Washington, D.C. to start my career. Currently, I’m working in audience engagement at NPR and pursuing a masters degree in Communications, Culture and Technology at Georgetown University.

I’m passionate about telling stories that bring everyone to the table, from multiple perspectives.

I’m endlessly adaptable: I’m just as comfortable in front of the camera as behind it. I’m a polyglot, and can speak and write Vietnamese, English and French. I’ve worked with the TODAY show, TODAY.com, TEGNA and more. If you’re an NPR listener, you’ll probably see me in your inbox every morning, preparing you for the day ahead with NPR Daily’s top news stories. My goal is to meet readers where they are; I want to tell my stories through multiple mediums in order to reach diverse audiences, through video, audio, social media, text and more.

I aim to lead with kindness and bring inclusivity and warmth in all my endeavors.

When I’m not at work, you might find me at a local bookstore, hosting the D.C. chapter of the Gloss Book Club and helping young women make new friends in a highly transient city. If I’m not there, find me in my kitchen pouring over the stove or behind a camera as I’m developing recipes for my blog, Bun Bo Bae.

Food has always been a huge part of my life. In 2019, I embarked on a project to begin documenting my family’s favorite, everyday recipes. I wanted to provide approachable, adaptable recipes and showcase not just the familiar Vietnamese dishes you’d find at restaurants, but the food that I eat day to day.

Since then, I’ve expanded the Bun Bo Bae brand on Instagram and Tiktok. I’ve collaborated with brands like Misen, Victoria’s Pasta Sauces and Decoy Wines and grown my community by thousands. I’ve hosted cooking classes with Georgetown.

As my community grows, my mission is to bring a more diverse representation of Vietnamese cuisine and lift up Asian voices and local businesses. I’m dedicated to partnering with my favorite Asian-owned, local to D.C. businesses. Through my graduate level research on authenticity, influencer culture and foodways, I strive to bring nuance and depth to my content, whether it’s a recipe, travel blog or restaurant review. I’ve been featured on TODAY.com, Buzzfeed and WAMU.
